When we left the house yesterday morning I forgot the camera, or this would be a Micah pics post.
We started out the day with a trip to Washington Farms in Watkinsville, where we enjoyed a petting zoo, a hay ride, a walk through the pumpkin patch, a slide made of PVC rollers, and a corn-box, which is of course a large wooden box filled eight inches deep with dried corn kernels. That comes out of clothes much better than sand.
From there we grabbed a quick bite for lunch and headed for Big Lots, where we paid for Mary’s Christmas present, a new kitchen table, four chairs, and a bench. I know it’s early to be buying Christmas presents, but one never knews when Big Lots merchandise is going to disappear, so we jumped on it, and I’m going over today to pick everything up (and likely spending the afternoon assembling it). We’ll just have to put a bow on the thing when December rolls around.
Finally Mary headed over to Target to get some long-sleeved clothes for our long-legged boy, and in the meantime Micah and I burned a couple hours and a mean pile of tokens at Chuck E Cheese. After all that, we came home, and Mary worked on a paper for her grad work while Micah and I played wiffle ball (which, as it always does, degenerated into lightsaber combat) in the back yard until dark.
It’s nice having a Saturday away from the library. I will say that such Saturdays are some of the things I look most forward to when I land a full-time gig.
